💭 Consider this: What habits or interests are you assuming “just once” or “just a little” won’t harm you? How does reflecting on the person you were before Christ shape your determination to avoid sin today?
RefQuests
What sins have I tolerated instead of actively putting to death?
Are there hidden sins in my heart that contradict what I profess publicly?
What do I desire so strongly that it competes with God in my heart?
Where am I assuming “just once” or “just a little” will not harm me?
If a young believer followed my example, where would they end up spiritually?

“You must
kill it
before it
kills you”
There’s no room for compromise. Either your sin will eat you up, or you stem it out. Cut it out, put it to death. As the Puritan Richard Baxter said, “Kill it before it kills you.”
You know what it meant to carry the guilt of your sins, and ultimately the judgment you had to face because of your sin. You know, because you were delivered from it. So do not return to it.
It is foolishness to return to something that we have been delivered from.
Sin has to be nipped at the bud. Do not take sin lightly … The only way is to stop the fuel and cut off the flame, however small it may be.
The only way to stop it is to snuff the flames by denying the fuel. And in this case, do not even entertain them. The moment you sense something is wrong, flee and do not feel. Do not engage yourselves in anything unwholesome, unsavoury, or unacceptable in the sight of God.

📣 What does it really mean to “mortify” sin? 🤔
If we have died with Christ, why does sin still feel so alive? In this sermon on Colossians 3:5–7, we explore the tension every believer experiences — the ongoing battle between the new man in Christ and the old sinful flesh. Sin no longer reigns, but it still fights for influence. The question is: are you fighting back?
In an age where immorality is normalised and compromise is applauded, this message calls believers back to vigilance, accountability, and a renewed awareness that the Holy Spirit dwells within you. From sexual immorality to covetousness, from hidden compromise to subtle idolatry, we confront the sobering truth that small sins are never truly small. Either you mortify sin, or sin will slowly mortify you.
Join us as we return to Scripture and rediscover what it means to put sin to death — decisively, deliberately, and daily.
